I visited some friends the other day. I have known them for years but not been to their house in a while. I discovered that since I was last there they had got a dog and a very fine specimin he is. He’s a big dog and I found out when he stood up on his hind legs and put his paws on my shoulders!

Now, if you are a dog lover you might enjoy behaviour like that but if you are not a dog lover, and I am not entirely comfrtable with dogs myself, that is really scary.

I don’t understand why dog owners assume that everyone loves their dogs as much as they do. Surely they should realize that some people don’t actually like dogs and find an unruly dog quite frightening. Maybe they don’t understand but they should get a dog training guide so they can train their dog not to frighten visitors. The simple fact is that I will not visit them again while they have an untrained dog.
