Red meat, especially beef, has been demonized for containing saturated fat. But the truth is that saturated fat is actually very healthy in the right amounts. Only excessive fat is dangerous.
Lard, for example, is pure animal fat and is far healthier than margarine, which is made up of hydrogenated vegetable oils. Experts now realize the dangers of hydrogenated fat and are banning it in many places. But lard was used traditionally in all kinds of cooking and baking until it was demonized as unhealthy.
Beef is one of the world’s most nutritious foods. It contains large amounts of protein, iron, zinc, vitamin c, magnesium, potassium and calcium. Beef also has lots of amino acids that are only found in animal fat. Red meat should be appreciated and enjoyed in moderate amounts.
