Of Barristers and Solicitors
March 5th, 2010 . by adminBarristers and solicitors are the two types of lawyers. Barristers are the ones who represent individuals or organizations in court. Solicitors however do a much more paper-based job and have more direct contact with the client. They also negotiate for their clients behind closed doors and draw up contracts. Barristers essentially operate as sole practitioner wherein they take on their own cases and are also paid for by their own clients rather being paid by a standard wage. The criminal attorney in Los Angeles I interviewed said that it is very hard to become a barrister. If you are a very good (though very unusual) you can earn several millions annually. As with the solicitors, the pay they get depends on the type of law they practice.
