I lost my employment a couple of weeks ago, and I think I am prepared to look for other engineering jobs. I was a bit sad at first because I didn’t believe I deserved to be laid off, but sometimes you actually cannot choose what you get to keep. I thought I was doing well, but I guess that other people were doing better and were worthy of keeping! Occasionally I really feel like I was becoming deceived. I was only at that job for a few months. I don’t know if they truly wanted to downsize, or they just didn’t sort of like me. Since it’s a small place, I couldn’t appraise. Typically you are able to tell the difference between a downsizing and a firing because they only fire 1 individual, but they let a bunch of individuals go when they are attempting to decrease costs. Nevertheless, there were only 10 employees at the place I was at. It was a little engineering firm.
